Longford murder trial begins in Dublin today

The trial of a man accused of a murder in Longford town in November 2016 begins in Dublin this morning.

Rihards Lavickis, with an address at 2 Annaly Court, Longford, is accused of murdering Polish national Arkadiusz Czajkowski at Rue Noyal Chatillon, Townspark, Longford, on November 1, 2016.

A jury is likely to be selected this morning and opening statements from the prosecution are also likely to be heard in front of Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy


Mr Lavickis has been in custody since his arrest over a year ago and his trial is expected to last a week.
