Longford GP says triage rooms for COVID-19 needed in local surgeries

A Longford GP says that people who suspect they may have coronavirus and are in ‘at risk-groups’ will have to be seen separately at doctor’s surgeries.

Longford GP Padraig McGarry is the president of the Irish Medical Organisation and believes that in order to limit the spread of COVID-19, triage rooms will need to be set up by GPs across the country.

He feels that if the public continues to be hygiene aware and wash their hands as well as covering their mouths when they sneeze or cough, they will limit its spread.

He told the Joe Finnegan show that anyone feeling ill will be asked to ring doctors before they present at a surgery.
