Longford County Council have agreed to form a Climate Action committee.
The committee will focus on environmental protection measure, waste management and creating a “greener Longford”. Recently, the government launched the Climate Action Plan to Tackle Climate Breakdown which contains 180 actions in areas of transport, agriculture, heating and waste. “Carbon budgets” described in the plan are hoped to increase interest in insulation and retro-fitting of homes.
Cllr for Ballymahon Municipal district, Gerald Farrell wants to particularly focus on raising the standards of social housing in the county.
