Longford councillor says protest in Dublin is as a result of frustration

Longford Fine Gael Councillor Paraic Brady says today’s tractor protest in Dublin is born out of pure frustration with the lack of progress on beef prices.

A protest is due to begin in the city centre at 2 o’ clock this afternoon, and farmers claim that 400 tractors are being brought onto the streets.

Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning Paraic Brady says beef prices are still 27 cent per kilo below the EU average, and Irish beef isn’t getting the recognition for its quality and traceability.

He says the group organising today’s event “The Individual Farmers of Ireland” is made up of a lot of people like himself who feel their case isn’t being properly represented.
