Longford Council picks up award for promotion of county’s rich literary heritage

Longford County Council’s arts office is celebrating having picked up a national award for its promotion of the county’s literary heritage.

The local authority picked up the Sustaining the Arts prize at the Chambers Ireland Excellence local government awards this week for their work with the website www.virtualwriter.ie

The website is one of the oldest in the country that celebrates Longford’s proud poetry, literary and prose history having been established in 2002.


Arts officer Fergus Kennedy says the award is a lovely recognition for the hard work of dozens of people over the last 15 years :
