Longford Cystic Fibrosis campaigner Jillian McNulty has welcomed the government decision to publish a bill to make it easier to donate organs.
Jillian’s urgently requires a kidney transplant and has welcomed a move from the health minister to publish the heads of a bill that would create a an ‘opt out’ donation system.
Under the new system it would be assumed people want to be organ donors unless they state otherwise.
The general scheme of the bill is to be published today.
It will also include the provision of ‘altruistic donors – where a member of the public can voluntarily offer their organs to a suitable recipient.
Jillian say this provision could be life changing for so many people – incluidng herself.
