Longford car dealer says climate action plan ‘unrealistic’

A Longford car dealer has described the Government’s radical climate change plans as “unrealistic.”

Under the action plan, legislation is to be introduced to ban the sale of petrol and diesel cars from 2030.

It’s also envisaged that there will be almost 1 million electric vehicles on Ireland’s roads within the next decade.

But Karl Reilly of Reilly Cars in Abbeyshrule says that the infrastructure simply isn’t in place to cater for the surge in electric cars anticipated.
