Longford businessman Jim Keogh considering running in Local Elections

Well-known businessman Jim Keogh may contest the local elections in the Longford Municipal District as an Independent candidate.

It’s understood the former Longford town councillor and Mayor has been approached by several people who’ve asked him to stand in May.

Mr Keogh, who lives in Drumlish, declined to comment on his intentions, but it’s understood he’s giving it some thought.

He stood in the Granard Municipal District in 2014’s local elections, securing more than 500 first-preference votes, but was unsuccessful.

Mr Keogh used to own the Richmond Court Accommodation Centre in Longford town, which accommodates asylum-seekers.
