Longford Bank of Ireland branch re-opens after fire alert

The Bank of Ireland branch on Longford’s Main Street has re-opened after  it was closed for a number of hours following a fire alert this morning.

Fire crews were alerted after staff arriving for work this morning thought they noticed a smell of smoke from within the bank.

The building was shut for a number of hours while fire crews examined the building’s alarm system but no signs of a fire, or smoke damage, was detected.

A Bank of Ireland spokesperson has confirmed that ongoing monitoring of the bank premises will continue throughout the day but it has now re-opened to the public.
