Lanesborough set to get public wifi and outdoor tourism touch screen hub

Lanesborough is set to become a high tech hub with the arrival of state-of-the-art broadband and an outdoor tourist information touch screen.

A contract for the provision of the new technology has just been signed by Lough Ree Community Resources for free broadband on Main Street from the library to Ballyleague Harbour.

Independent local councillor Mark Casey says the type of technology is a first for Ireland and represents one of the best tourism initiatives in the Midlands in recent years.


It’s hoped the pilot scheme will prove to be a huge success and will be rolled out to Ballymahon next and then other centres in the county.
