Lacpatrick and Lakeland Dairies’ shareholders approve merger

Both LacPatrick and Lakeland Dairies have approved the merger of their companies.

At their respective SGMs held this afternoon, shareholders of dairy processing co-operatives Lakeland Dairies and LacPatrick Dairies voted overwhelmingly in favour of the merger of both Societies.

Lakeland shareholders met in Cavan while LacPatrick shareholders met in Cookstown, Co. Tyrone with the ballots of each society conducted independently by the Irish Co-operative Organisation Society.

97.24% of shareholders of Lakeland Dairies voted in favour of the merger, while 95.99% of shareholders of LacPatrick Dairies voted in favour of the merger.

The move will create the second-largest dairy processor in the country.
