The Irish Greyhound Board says it will continue to fund Longford greyhound stadium until February or March next year.
A report by Indecon that has been accepted by the Board recommends that the IGB ceases support to four tracks, Longford, Youghal, Lifford and Enniscorthy as part of measures to future proof the industry going forward.
Longford greyhound track has been supported by an operating grant of 323,000 euro from the governing body.
People are being invited to make submissions to the plan and the transition up until January 10th.
Speaking on Let’s Talk this afternoon, Chief Executive of the Irish Greyhound Board Gerard Dollard says issues relating to staff and transfer of races will need to be worked out.
