Hundreds of homes still without power due to high winds

Hundreds of homes across the Shannonsid region are without electricity this afternoon due to high winds.

A yellow wind warning has been extended to all of Leinster as well as Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim and Roscommon.

The warnings will be in effect until 9pm tonight.

Met Eireann says strong southwesterly winds will give damaging gusts of 80 to 100 km/hr in the affected areas.

In Leitrim, 355 householders in the Eslinbridge area are affected; 284 near Lough Scur; 60 near Leitrim Village and 23 in Fenagh.

In Rooskey 107 people are without power and 118 in Tulsk as well as 88 in Boyle.

Around 150 people outside Granard in Longford are without power and in Drumlish 67 people are without electricity after a power line came down in the village earlier today.
