Nearly 1500 Shannonside students receive leaving cert results

A Shannonside school principal has advised Leaving Cert students across this region not to panic where they get their results today. Declan Rowley was speaking as nearly 1,500 students in local counties nervously wait to find out how they did in their final school exam.

According to the State Examinations Commission, 632 pupils took the exam in Longford, 454 in Roscommon and 408 in Leitrim. Nationally, Five students will discover they got eight H1s in their final year exams, while 56 students achieved 7 top grades at higher level.

Declan Rowley, who is principal of St. Mel’s College in Longford town, says no matter what happens today, young people need to remember that there are lots of options out there.
