Granard prepares for launch of Harp Festival this evening

Granard Harp Festival will officially open this evening in the Granard Community Library.

The Harp festival which was first held in 1781 runs until Sunday and is part of the National Heritage Week.

Highlights include a traditional concert on Friday night in St Patrick’s Church, workshops and a walking tour of the town on Saturday and an open air concert on Sunday afternoon.


Councillor PJ Reilly, who will be at the opening ceremony tonight, told Shannonside how important the festival is for Granard and what visitors can look forward to over the next few days.
