Granard residents opposed to the development of an industrial wind turbine in the area say they are shocked and disappointed after their campaign posters were removed in recent days.

It's after Kiernan Milling lodged an appeal with the national planning authority against Longford County Council's decision to refuse them planning permission for the 169m structure at Granardkille.

Over 30 objectors, including Fáilte Ireland, submitted their views to Longford County Council during the original planning application and they now have until September 8th to make their voices heard at national level.

Chairperson for the Granard Against Industrial Wind Turbine group Patrick McGivney says they're ready to continue the fight.

An Bord Pleanála is due to decide on whether to uphold Longford County Council's decision by December 14th.
