Funding of over 100 thousand euro for greenways through the Mid Shannon Wilderness Park in county Longford will create a wonderful tourism product for the midlands.

That's according to the Head Planner with Longford County Council Donall Mac an Bheatha.

The project was earmarked for funding last week along with over 40 others by Minister for the Environment Eamon Ryan under the Just Transition Programme.

The €102 thousand euro will fund the walk and cycle way through Corlea Bog which has been rewetted already and is slowly starting to renature - the ultimate goal for all of the Bord na Mona bogs around the midlands.
