Former Dublin hurler pleads guilty to Ardagh Post Office raid

A former Dublin hurler has pleaded guilty to stealing over €13,000 from a Longford post office last year.

44-year-old Alan Coyne, with an address in 2 Derravaragh Abbey, Multyfarnham, Mullingar, appeared before Judge Keenan Johnson at Longford Circuit Court on Tuesday of this week.

He pleaded guilty to three counts in connection with the incident which occurred at Ardagh Post office on October 16th last.

He also admitted producing a knife during the course of the incident and to the unauthorised taking of a Mazda car at Ardagh Demesne on the same date.

He is due back in court in May when he will be sentenced, with the court asking for a probation and welfare report in the interim.
