Final stained glass windows installed at St Mel’s

The last stained glass windows commissioned for St Mel’s cathedral in Longford have been installed in recent days.

The windows are on the west, or left-hand side, as people enter the cathedral and while they were originally designed to be different from the ones on the opposite side, they will now reflect the same style.

The windows have been designed by Korean Dominican priest Kim En Joong, the same artist who designed the modern art glass in the other windows a few years ago.


Fr Tom Healy says they had different plans at the beginning for these second set of windows, but they didn’t work out, and that’s why these windows are only now being installed two years after the re-opening:
