Fianna Fail TD takes Fine Gael criticism over financial statements as ‘compliment’

A Shannonside-based Fianna Fail TD believes the party should take a blistering attack by Fine Gael on its public financial comments on government policy as a compliment.

Longford-Westmeath TD Peter Burke yesterday claimed that Fianna Fáil had made irrational spending claims throughout last year that totalled €3.5 billion.

Several senior Fianna Fail members were critical of the comments from the Mullingar accountant, claiming that Fine Gael should look closer at their own spending, especially in terms of the multi-million euro expenditure on the new national children’s hospital.
