Fianna Fail leader critical of Longford Council for not building more social housing units

The Fianna Fáil leader has accused the Taoiseach of insuring Fine Gael’s election manifesto is ready by November instead of insuring homeless people are in houses.

Micheal Martin was speaking at the opening of his party’s pre-Dail meeting in Longford.

He also criticised his constituency colleague Simon Coveney for standing down as Housing Minister.

The Fianna Fail leader has criticised local authorities in this region for their failure to build more social housing units to tackle the homelessness crisis.

Micheal Martin believes the pace of construction of affordable housing projects is leading to more an people ending up on the streets
