Farmers protesting near the Dail say they won’t leave until the Agriculture Minister agrees to meet them.
Around 100 tractors are involved in the demonstration, which is now into its 5th hour.
The protest started at Merrion Square earlier – but the 100 or so tractors involved broke through the barricade so they could drive towards the Dail.
The tractors are now stopped at the end of Kildare Street near Stephen’s Green.
And Michael Fitzpatrick – a farmer from Tipperary – says they’re not leaving until the Agriculture Minister meets them.
Extra Gardai have been drafted in after an earlier barricade was broken through by the tractors.
The group of farmers have submitted a letter to Michael Creed’s office with 8 demands, ranging from how imported food is labelled to the price farmers get for their produce.
The group protesting originally wanted to march to the Dail gates.
But they now say a meeting with the Agriculture Minister has to happen – or they’ll leave their tractors here all night.
