Family of missing climber Seamus Lawless launch search and rescue fund appeal

The family of Seamus Lawless, who’s missing on Mount Everest, are appealing for help to fund a search operation.

Writing on a GoFundMe page, the family said the insurance company that provided a policy for Mr Lawless are currently not providing assistance with the search and rescue.

The family want to raise €750,000 to gather a team of experts to help locate him.

His wife, Pamela McDermott, is from Tullycorbet, in Co Monaghan.

The 39-year-old Trinity College professor was part of an eight-member expedition that included several Irish climbers.

He was reported missing after reaching the summit of Everest on Thursday.

A search operation remains stood down due to poor weather conditions.
