Longford doctor doubts effectiveness of public using face masks to battle Covid-19

People are being urged to continue to wash their hands and social distance as the country enters its second full week of social restrictions.

Cavan Gardaí are urging the public to adhere to the essential travel and social distancing guidelines as set out by the HSE.

The appeal follows an incident wherein gardaí in the Bailieborough District had to disperse five fishermen from Dublin who were congregating at the town lake in Bailieborough.

Elsewhere, gardaí in Virginia were forced to ask three adult males to return to their addresses in Dublin, after they had travelled to Lough Ramor.

President of the IMO Dr Padraig McGarry has also raised concerns over the increasing use of face masks by the general public in efforts to combat the spread of Covid-19.
