Dun Áras residents consider appealing planning decision to An Bord Pleánala

An appeal is set to be lodged with An Bord Pleanála against the decision to grant planning permission for a controversial housing development in Ballymahon.

Longford County Council yesterday gave the go-ahead for 35 houses to be built at Dun Áras in the south Longford town, despite widespread opposition from the community.

Mark Cunningham, of the N4 Axis Centre in Longford town, originally sought to build 39 houses, but altered the plans because of the objections.

Sean Clancy, a resident, confirms an appeal will be lodged against yesterday’s decision, which he’s extremely disappointed with.
