Dublin man charged with €13,000 robbery from Ardagh Post Office

A Dublin man, who was charged with the robbery of a post office in Ardagh in Longford yesterday, is due back in court next week.

Alan Coyne, with an address in Edgeworthstown, appeared at a sitting of Mullingar District Court this monring, following the incident in Ardagh on Wednesday afternoon.

The court heard that the former drug addict had entered the post office at around 2.40pm with a blade, and stolen €13,000.

He then stole a car belonging to a customer in the post office in which to make his escape but crashed the vehicle a few minutes later just outside Edgeworthstown.
