The dangers posed at a notorious crossroads on the N5 out of Longford town are to be raised with Transport Infrastructure Ireland.
The move comes after the latest crash at Kilmore Cross on the Strokestown Road on Monday evening in which two people were injured.
Three years ago a local man from Clondra died following a road accident at the same spot.
The crossroads sees two side roads converging onto the N5 – one from Kilashee and the other from Newtownforbes – with motorists contending with traffic from four directions.
Councillor Seamus Butler who will one a delegation of Longford councillors meeting TII officials next week says he will be raising the issues of both signage and speed on the stretch.
