Dairy farmers in Longford recovering well since the removal of quotas

Longford IFA Chairman Sean Conefrey says dairy farmers in the region have seen the best months since quotas were dropped in 2015.

Prices slumped early in 2015 after the quotas ended and fell further in 2016.

Sean Conefrey says though that the increase which began towards the end of last year has continued throughout 2017 and he hopes it can be sustained into the future.

He says farmers in Longford and other counties have invested significantly in their dairy farms and they need this boost badly.
