Conservative MP with Shannonside links feels hard border could be avoided in case of No-Deal Brexit

A Conservative MP, with strong family links in the Shannonside region, believes it is still possible to avoid border infrastructure in Northern Ireland even in the event of a No-Deal Brexit.

Maria Caulfield’s father is from Longford and she is currently on holidays in the region with her family ahead of the resumption of political discussions on the UK withdrawal from the EU later this month.

There are growing fears that a No-deal Brexit is the preferred option of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, while concern is growing that failure to agree a deal will have a massive negative impact on relations and trade between the north and south of Ireland.
