The re-opening of the Connolly Barracks site as a Covid test centre for Longford is being welcomed by the Chairperson of the mid-Leinster regional health forum.
Councillor Paraic Brady says the centre is needed with the number of cases rising, and it will mean that people won't have to go outside the county to be tested.
He says the health forum has been looking at alternative facilities in an effort to get more sheltered accommodation for the people testing during the colder months ahead, but the Connolly Barracks site will be there for as long as is needed.
