Chairman of Longford FF claims no decision made on convention date

The chairman of Longford Fianna Fail’s county committee claims no decision has been made on a date for the selection of a candidate for the next General Election.

Speculation in recent days has suggested that the party were to organise the convention for sometime later this month, or in early June.

Last week Fine Gael confirmed that it would be holding its candidate convention on June 9th to decide on its running mate for Peter Burke which had increased speculation that Fianna Fail was organising its own event.

However, speaking to Shannonside FM this evening, CDC chairman Pat Donnelly claims that while plans are currently in place, no date for a convention has been decided upon by the party yet.
