Campagin for second ambulance crew for Carrick on Shannon needs to be maintained

The campaign to bring a second ambulance to Carrick on Shannon must continue to be prioritised.

According to Dr Sean Bourke in Ballinamore, continuing with just one ambulance with response times of up to 2 hours is unacceptable, even to former HSE Chief Tony O’ Brien. It comes as the National Ambulance Service confirmed after a meeting with unions and members of Fianna Fail today the Carrick on Shannon ambulance crew is to return to a base in Carrick on Shannon from tomorrow morning after a temporary move to Boyle.

The unit at Lunney’s garage has been upgraded and will serve as a temporary base for up to six months and planning permission will be lodged shortly for a new permanent base on the same site. While welcoming the return to county Leitrim, Dr Sean Bourke says efforts must be redoubled to bring a second crew to the county.
