Bord na Mona reveal how many employees will be working on local bog rehabilitation projects

Bord na Mona has revealed it hopes to provide over two-hundred employees work as part of its bog rehabilitation programme in the wider Shannonside region.

Representatives from the company, as well as senior figures from the ESB were grilled by TDs at an Oireachtas Climate Change Committee recently.

Hundreds of people are set to lose their jobs when the semi-state company winds down its peat production in the coming years – with dozens set to be unemployed after the closure of the Lough Ree and Shannonbridge power stations next year.
