Bord na Mona executives are to brief Oireachtas members this morning on the job losses at Mount Dillon.
Unions secured the employment of 70 permanent employees after the semi state announced that they, together with 78 season staff were being laid off.
It’s due to the ESB decision to suspend its operations at Lough Ree Power due to licence breaches and legal proceedings initiated by the EPA.
Yesterday a meeting with TDs and the ESB took place, there’s no indication of when the plant will be brought back online, it could be up to 12 weeks.
The ESB did state their committment to Lough Ree power in the long term.
This morning’s meeting between politicians and Bord na Mona gets underway at 10 o’ clock in Athlone.
