The newly commissioned statue of Big Tom McBride will be unveiled this Sunday as part of the Castleblayney Celebrates Big Tom Festival.
UK sculptor Mark Richards created the design in bronze, which depicts the well-known country singer in a seated position.
Plans for the project were announced by Monaghan County Council last year, with a budget of €85,000 set aside.
The 81-year-old Country Music star, who would have turned 82 yesterday, passed away in April, with fans travelling from across the country to pay their respects.
Big Tom’s son Dermot McBride said he was very impressed with artist Mark Richards’ work.
He said even at the early stages when he saw the design, it was clear it was going to be an excellent likeness.
Margo O’Donnell, close friend of Big Tom and one of the driving forces behind the statue, said she was so proud of how it has turned out.
