Ballymahon traders welcome new car-park approval at ‘Priest’s Field’

News that the “Priests Field” is to be finally developed for a car park in Ballymahon is being widely welcomed by people in the town.

The area of land, which is beside St Matthews National School, in the town is expected to be able to accommodate anything from 70 to 100 car parking spaces, and many parents have said they are delighted that the area around the school will now be safer as a result.

Businesses in the town have also been calling for more spaces to be made available for people coming and doing their shopping, or other errands.

It’s understood that work is beginning this week to develop the area, and local woman Catriona Egan who runs a hairdressing salon, as well as being a parent of children at St Matthew’s, says she’s very happy to hear the news…
