Another electricity provider should be sought to operate the two ESB power stations, according to Denis Naughten

Another electricity provider should be sought to operate the two ESB power stations in the midlands that are due to close, according to former environment minister Denis Naughten.

The ESB says it’ll close the Lanesboro and Shannonbridge power stations next year, which will affect 80 staff.

It says the peat-fired plants are no longer viable, after planners turned down a prosposal for them to switch to biomass.
