Wexford native ratified as new Chief Executive as Leitrim County Council

Wexford man Lar Power has been ratified as the new chief executive of Leitrim County Council.

At a special meeting of councillors this morning, Mr Power was rubberstamped as the replacement to Frank Curran, having been chosen by the Public Appointments Service.

The current deputy chief executive of Waterford City and County Council will begin his post early next month.

At this morning’s meeting, Independent councillor Des Guckian raised his objections to the appointment process, saying councillors should have had more of a role.

But council cathaoirleach Finola Armstrong-McGuire was among those to welcome Mr Power to the county, saying he was highly regarded in Waterford.
