Waterways Ireland confirms works at Keshcarrigan amenity area to resume

Waterways Ireland has confirmed that it’s to resume works at the amenity area in Keshcarrigan.

According to a statement to Shannonside FM news, it says the plans to improve and enhance its’ existing service block and amenity area are taking longer than intended for resource allocation reasons.

Works are expected to be substantially completed in 2019 and public moorings, car park, slipway, toilets, showers and laundry facilities will remain open at all times during the works.

The Shannon-Erne Waterway celebrates its’ 25th anniversary this year with the community in Keshcarrigan hoping to see over 100 vessels on the local waterways in August to celebrate.

A representative from Waterways Ireland was part of a group including boating representatives which met with community activist Dessie Foley in Kescharrigan yesterday to discuss the upcoming works and celebrations – he told today’s Let’s Talk that there were issues along other areas of the waterway that required action until now.
