A warning has been issued by Shannonside Gardai after reports of a post scam in the region.
According to Gardai, people are receiving emails or texts telling them that a parcel is ready for delivery, but that a fee of a few euro is required.
If the link provided is clicked and bank details are inserted, personal information can be compromised.
An Post has confirmed to Shannonside FM that they are aware of a number of SMS phising scams in circulation at the moment, and that there is an alert on their website.
They have also stated they do not request bank details or payment from customers and will only be in contact if a mail item is due to be delivered.
Anyone expecting a parcel who receives such a message should immediately contact An Post or the shipper by phone to verify details of any outstanding fees.
Gardai urge anyone who has provided bank details in response to a similar message to contact their bank immediately.
