The number of people unemployed in Leitrim in May decreased by forty-three, compared to April where there was an increase of forty-five.
CSO figures for May show a total of 1,694 people unemployed in Co Leitrim, a decrease of forty-three on figures for April. This is the third decrease recorded so far this year in the county, however, there was a rise of twenty-one people unemployed in Manorhamilton seeking unemployment assistance in May, but a drop of sixty-four in Carrick-on-Shannon.
Longford’s live register figures decreased by a total of eighty-two in May, which brings the total unemployment figure to 2,432. This is the third decrease in employment figures this year, with April being the only month to see an increase of people seeking unemployment assistance.
In Roscommon, there was a decrease of ninety-five people recorded on the live register, consisting of a rise of eighty-four in Boyle, but a decrease of fifty-four in Castlerea.Overall in Roscommon, 2,027 are on the live register.
Meanwhile, Athlone’s unemployment levels decreased by twenty individuals last month, while Mullingar’s total unemployment also decreased by one-hundred-twenty.
