Two MPs with Shannonside connections retain seats in UK General Election

Two British MPs whose parents hail from the Shannonside region have retained their seats in the General Election.

Maria Caulfield who is a Conservative candidate for Lewes in England and whose father comes from Longford has secured her seat with a reduced majority and 26,269 votes.

While Mike Kane of the Wythenshawe and Sale East constituency, whose parents come from the Leitrim/Roscommon area also comfortably retained his seat for Labour with 10, 396 votes.


Mr Kane addressed the win on his social media, saying he was disappointed to lose many fantastic colleagues in Parliament, and that Labour has a lot of work to do to regain the trust of voters.
