Tributes paid to young Carrick on Shannon man killed in yesterdays road collision near Castlebaldwin

Tributes are being paid to Hasib Allkarami who died yesterday in a road traffic collision on the N4 near Castlebaldwin in Sligo.

St Mary’s GAA and Carrick Town FC have announced on Facebook their great sadness at the death of the young man who was heavily involved in sport in Carrick on Shannon.

St Mary’s GAA said “It is with great sadness that we learn of the sad passing of Hasib Allakarami, Hasib first got involved with our under 10 group in 2008 and since then had been a loyal member of that particular age group travelling the length and breath of Leitrim and Connacht taking part in tournaments and blitz’s. He was always in good form and his witty comments always added to the fun of the day.
After 10 years his reward came when he was part of the 2016 minor team who were victorious in the Minor B Championship.
Whilst we have lost a good friend, we are mindful that his family have lost a son and brother and the wider Kurdish community are also mourning his passing.
Sleep well Hasib 💔”.

Carrick Town FC said “Carrick Town FC are devastated to learn of the news of the death of Hasib Allakarami following a road accident near Castlebaldwin. Hasib was a member of all underage teams from the age of 8, soon after his family arrived in Carrick. He returned as coach to our U-12 team last year. Hasib was also a popular member of St Mary’s GAA club. He was an outgoing and friendly young lad and will be missed by everyone at the club and beyond. Our deepest sympathy goes to his family. 3 days of mourning for sympathisers will be held at the family home at 40 Lis Cara, Carrick-on-Shannon.”
