The Fine Gael party will tonight decide who their representatives for the constituency of Sligo-Leitrim will be at the next general election.
Eight people remain the field in the race for a party nomination for the next election.
Earlier this week, anti-fracking campaigner Eddie Mitchell pulled out of the race, leaving eight people to battle for the two slots available.
Roscommon senator Frank Feighan and former Oireachtas member Gerry Reynolds, from Carrick-on-Shannon, as well former minister of state John Perry, are among those expected to address the hundreds of delegates at tonight’s event in the Clayton Hotel, Sligo.
Former senator Michael Comiskey, party activist Noel Merrick, Sligo solicitor Sinéad Maguire, Cllr Hubert Keaney, and Blaine Gaffney, a parliamentary assistant for Deputy Tony McLoughlin, are also seeking the approval of party delegates from across Sligo, Leitrim and north Roscommon.
