Thousands walk for Darkness into Light

Thousands of people from across the Shannonside region will rise in darkness tomorrow morning to walk into light.

There are 12 Darkness into Light events taking place in the area, to raise funds for suicide prevention organisation Pieta House.

There are two services locally in Athlone and in Tuam County Galway.

In Athlone, people are meeting at Athlone TownnFootball Stadium, in Ballygar it’s the Mattie McDonagh Centre, and the Emerald Ballroom is the venue in Ballinasloe.

Staying in east Galway, the Community School is the meeting point for Glenamaddy’s event.

In Roscommon town, the meeting place is the Convent Gym, it’s St Nathy’s Ballaghaderreen, the Crescent is the venue in Boyle and in Castlerea it’s the Hub at the Demense.

There are two events in Longford, at Ballymahon Vocational School and the Mall in Longford town.

The Sports Complex in Carrick on Shannon is the starting point for one of two Leitrim events, in Ballinamore it’s the Community school.

All events locally and nationally are starting at a quarter past four.
