Thieves raid five Carrick houses in 48 hours

Gardaí in Carrick-on-Shannon are warning people to be vigilant after a spate of burglaries in the town.

Five break-ins took place in estates in close proximity to each other in the space of only 48 hours.

The first burglary occurred in Oaklands, Summerhill, during the day on Tuesday when a back patio door was smashed and the owners are still trying to establish what was taken.

The same day, two neighbouring houses in Lis Cara were broken into between 1pm and 9pm, with entry gained in both cases via a front window and doors that were smashed open.

Two burglaries also took place in the Cluain Sí estate at Hartley between 5 and 6 o’clock yesterday evening.

In both cases, the back window was forced open, with cash taken in one house.

Gardaí, who believe the crimes may be connected, are asking people to be vigilant and report anything suspicious.
