All Tesco’s Carrick strikes shelved

The trade union Mandate has deferred any further strike action at Tesco in Carrick-on-Shannon pending moves to resolve the dispute.

The decision was made after both sides invited the Workplace Relations Commission to hold conciliation talks, which have been scheduled for March 13.

The move comes after workers staged a one-day strike at the store in December in a row over contracts and working hours.

A further stoppage on January 26 was suspended and Ciaran Campbell, Mandate’s divisional organiser for the north and west, says he’s hopeful a resolution can be found.
