TD Martin Kenny says ‘deal’ on Carrick plot should be upheld

A Sligo-Leitrim TD has called for the site planned for the Lidl store in Carrick-on-Shannon to be returned to community use.

Fifty people attended last night’s public meeting in the Bush Hotel because the supermarket giant has appealed against Leitrim County Council’s decision to refuse planning permission for a store at Attyrory.

The site was previously owned by the Coleman family, who sold it to the council 30 years ago, and it was intended for community use.

Sinn Féin’s Martin Kenny, who attended last night’s meeting, says the site should be used for its original intended purpose….
