Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Employment Minister Regina Doherty are paying separate visits to the Shannonside region this afternoon.
The Taoiseach is due on a visit to Carrick on Shannon this evening, after turning the sod for the Collooney Castlebaldwin N4 project which will see the upgraded to a type two dual carriageway.
He’ll meet with some local business people in Carrick on Shannon during his visit, and tour some of the town.
He’s also due to visit the GAA club in Mullinalaghta later this evening where he’ll meet members of the team who captured the nation’s attention with their performances in the AIB All-Ireland club championships.
The Taoiseach will end his visit to the region by attending the Fine Gael Midlands/North West European Election Convention in Mullingar tonight.
The Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection Regina Doherty will visit the Social Welfare Headquarters in Longford town this afternoon to mark the 25th anniversary of the de-centralisation of the offices.
