Status orange wind warning comes into force for north-west from midday

A status Orange wind warning for the North West and Mayo comes into effect around now.

Storm Gareth is expected to bring wind speeds of 65 to 75 kilometres per hour with damaging gusts reaching up to 130 kilometres per-hour.

There is also the risk of coastal flooding due to high seas.

While there’s a status yellow alert for the rest of the country.

The status orange wind warning comes into effect for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo from midday and will last until 9am on Wednesday morning.
